COmposting Methods
Vermicomposting
Vermicomposting is the scientific method of making compost, by using earthworms. They are commonly found living in soil, feeding on biomass and excreting it in a digested form. Vermiculture means “worm-farming”.
Open air composting
Open-air composting is a traditional method in which a pile of green and brown matter is in your backyard. Aerated composting maintains aerobic conditions throughout the compost pile and has the ability to comtrol temperatures. This expedites the composting process and yields a high-quality compost product that is effectively free of pathogens, parasites, and weed seeds.
Direct Composting
Direct composting, sometimes called Direct Trench Composting is a simple method that starts by simply digging a hole or trench in the ground and burying your scraps into the soil. It is most likely the oldest and most effective method of composting but does have some limitations.
Compost MAchine
A small machine that helps to maintain a neutral PH and speeds up the process of decomposition, it also provides food to promote bacterial growth. This increases the temperature in the compost heap, killing off weed seeds and hastening the conversion of garden and kitchen waste into a nutrient dense fist stage of compost ideal for enriching garden soil.
